Digital Video - How to for Kindergarten

So here I am racking my brain on what I could possibly do in kindergarten using digital video and I thought we could all share some ideas - kind of like a "blogwiki" for ideas. Please feel free to add some bullets that you think would be useful in the K classroom. Here are my ideas.
  • Whole class project - teacher takes the video of the students in a learning situation, edits with the students and create a video.
  • Show the students how to record and have them go off and record items around the school (if studying geometry have them film themselves saying "This is a square") Then edit all of the students work.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas!

The Early Elementary Excuse

So we hear it all the time..."My kids are too young to do this.."

To be honest, I am really tired of the excuses. You can find a loophole for everything when you want to. What about adding technology into teaching for the lower elementary classes?
It's time to be proactive - let's think of some suggestions for what we could do on this blog.
  • Why not involve the parents and have a parent/student wiki or blog where parents and students are responsible for posting. This is a great way to ensure that our students know that their parents are engaged in their education and it alos keeps them safe :)

Any other suggestions?

Wikipedia Idea

So I was reading chapter 4 or 6 or 9 in Richardson and I came up with a great idea for teachers introducing wikipedia to their students. In an attempt to teach students that anyone can edit a wiki and it is important to update and keep information correct the teacher could create an anonymous account and post non-true information for the kids to edit. That way they would learn the responsibility keeping a wiki as well as how important it is to keep information correct.

Are Blogs bad?

So in class we starting talking about how teachers might be worried/turned off from blogging for class assignments because of the potention danger of the internet and children. I think there is something to be said about the risk of children finding something they shouldn't or God forbid a blog resulting in a lawsuit against a teacher but couldn't this fear be used to really teach our kids about internet safety first and then venture out with blogging?

Just a thought...

Blogs?

So this is my first time ever blogging.

From what I know about Blogs it is a place to write about what you are doing that is not of interest to most of the reading world. I have NEVER been interested in them so I struggle with the fact that I need to make them useful/interesting for my students.

Any helpful hints to make this fun, enjoyable, interesting???

Thanks in advance.
